London Community Network commissioned muf architecture/art to undertake a community consultation exploring the future of the Beck Road area and the needs, ideas and aspirations of the people who live and work here.
The consultation brings together local voices and considers how the area’s distinctive creative community, heritage and character can be supported and developed for the future.

Community Consultation — March 2026
In March 2026, muf architecture/art held the first public engagement event at Arch 346, bringing together local residents, artists, workers and passers-by to explore ideas for the future of the space.
Around 50 people took part in conversations, mapping and a collage workshop, creating 18 collages imagining how the arch might be used and what kind of place it could become.

What the Community Told Us
There was strong support for Arch 346 becoming an accessible, community-focused space. People suggested workshops and creative classes, community meetings, events and informal shared space, with particular interest in affordable activities for children and young people.
Participants also wanted the arch to retain its distinctive character and remain welcoming, affordable and inclusive.

A Space for the Community
The consultation explored how Arch 346 could become a flexible community space while retaining the character that makes the area distinctive. Ideas included creative workshops, exhibitions, meetings, performances and activities for children and young people, alongside opportunities for local organisations and residents to use the space.

Next Steps
The findings from the consultation will help London Community Network shape the future development of Arch 346, ensuring that plans respond to the needs and aspirations of the local community.
As the project develops, we will continue to involve local residents, businesses, artists and community organisations in creating a welcoming and sustainable space for Beck Road and the wider Hackney community.
